Today, Autumn Wang is interviewing Paige Miller, our well-known assistant instructor!
Hello Paige and thank you so much for accepting this interview! Let's get started!
How do you describe your job in 5 words?
Definitely fun, creative, a bit annoying, awesome, and sweet!
What do you like the most?
What I like most about the job is the color, but that I can know that I’m helping the site and the instructors grade homework if they aren’t able to.
How did you decide to apply? Why this job specifically?
I honestly don’t know. But I believe it was because I had been thinking about for a while before I did get an actual job on site. (Definitely wasn’t the color) But yeah, I chose to be an Assistant Instructor to get into the grading homework. Although, someday I do hope to be an Instructor myself if I could handle it.
What's a typical day?
My typical day for me is wake up, check everything on site, do the anagram and riddle, maybe peek into the Chat, then check to see if there’s any homework to grade, if there, I write it down somewhere I won’t forget then I’ll grade it!
How long does it take?
How long does it take? It doesn’t take that long at all, you just have to check it over a few times, choose what grade you’ll give it, then write out why you gave that grade while also thanking and congratulating that person on the homework and for submitting it. It’s not at all that hard, really. I haven’t had any complaints since becoming an Assistant Instructor. So I don’t think anyone thinking about becoming an Assistant Instructor themselves should worry about that. But you should allows check just in case!
What would you say to someone who's hesitating to apply?
I would say that you wouldn’t regret it. I didn’t, and I still don’t. It doesn’t have to be a permanent job, but I would recommend having it for at least two months or so. Trust me, it can be fun because you can also help the instructor of that class write lessons! But a little extra about all my jobs… if there’s someone out there who wants one of them, just contact me and the Instructor of that class so we can work something out because I’m not even supposed to have the number of jobs that I have.
And this is what we call closure. Give a warm round of applause to Paige Miller, our beloved Assistant Instructor!
