Choose your character!
Good day, Chicago! I hope all of you are doing well. Welcome to the second edition of ‘Choose your character!’. If you are new to this article series, I will explain what the topic of this article will be. In ‘Choose your character!’, I will spotlight two characters from the book and/or movie series and you can choose which you like best or maybe choose one who fits the personality of your character best, who knows? This week’s article will be spotlighting… Jeanine Matthews and Eric!
Now, what is the relation between said characters? They haven’t had much interaction in the movies and the books, but they worked together in the past. Eric worked for Jeanine during his time in Erudite. Eric changed factions so that Jeanine could create a serum to take over abnegation. Anyways, let’s talk about the personality of Jeanine Matthews.
As a member of Erudite, she possesses qualities that the faction values. Her IQ is the highest among Erudite members, leading to her election as faction leader. She does not show her emotions unless it is pain. She is usually very short-tempered, just when she got frustrated because Tris' reaction to her stimulation wasn’t reasonable.
Being an Erudite, Eric is very smart. Although that’s the case, he is very malicious and people tend to forget about his smarts. In Divergent, Tris Prior often describes him as the ‘ruthless kind’ of Dauntless, as opposed to Four, who Tris Prior considers the ‘honourable kind’. Eric has been shown to be extremely violent and sadistic throughout the series, as well as being cunning.
