Good day, Chicago! I hope all of you are doing well. Welcome to the third edition of ‘Choose your character!’. If you are new to this article series, I will explain what the topic of this article will be. In ‘Choose your character!’, I will spotlight two characters from the book and/or movie series and you can choose which you like best or maybe choose one who fits the personality of your character best, who knows? This week’s article will be spotlighting… Tobias Eaton and Marcus Eaton!

You might have noticed the similar last name, which most likely indicates they are related. To save you the trouble, Marcus is Tobias’ father. Unfortunately, I can’t say they’ve had the best relationship. Throughout Tobias’ childhood, Marcus has physically abused Tobias. This action may explain why Tobias’ personality is broody and his behaviour being aloof.

Let’s begin with Marcus Eaton. He is the original leader of the Abnegation faction and also the city. The Abnegation faction contains the cowardly, abusive and dishonest people, which makes sense why Marcus is the leader considering his behaviour towards Tobias. Marcus was first introduced while the Prior family were having dinner. A little while after, Erudite published reports accusing Marcus of abusing Tobias. This action forced Marcus to switch from Abnegation to Dauntless.

Moving on, Tobias Eaton. Adding to what was mentioned above, Tobias has a quiet personality, Although that is the case, Tobias is quite brave and intelligent. Now, Tobias isn’t called by his name. During his initiation training, it was discovered that he only had Four fears. As a result, Amar, his instructor, started to call him “Four”. Tobias accepted it, making it a window to escape his past and start a new future using a new identity.
